Those front and back additions are called hooks, and they're worth learning, because a hook turns a word already on the board into a second play for the price of one tile.
Words come from ENABLE, a public domain list, not the official NASPA (NWL) or Collins (CSW) tournament list: some tournament words, QI and ZA for example, aren't in ENABLE, and some ENABLE words aren't tournament legal, so for rated play, check the official list for your event.
